Tuition Services
Developing knowledge into confidence
Students needn’t put up with finding things difficult, they might just need to see things differently. Tuition can help unlock their potental.
In-Person Tuition
This kind of tuition allows the student to feel comfortable learning at their own pace in their own home.
This is suitable for primary, secondary and A-Level students in mainstream education. It can also support learners preparing for the Eleven-Plus examinations, Key Stage 2 SATs exams, and for adult education.
With large class sizes often exceeding 30 students, it’s difficult for teachers to give each student one-to-one support during lessons. Personal tuition gives focused, individual support based on the needs of the child, with physical resources, visual aids and worksheets provided.
- One-to-one attention
- Focus on specific needs
- Tailored to individuals
Online Tuition
Students can enjoy the benefits of tailored, individual online support by logging into their devices conveniently from their own home, via their prefered video conferencing tools.
This is also suitable for primary, secondary and A-Level students in mainstream education, as well as Eleven-Plus examinations, SATs preparation and adult education.
Each session focuses on specific topics, either requested by the student or following assessed requirements. Students will build their confidence by exploring topics, identifying difficulties and misconceptions and applying practice and positive steps to make improvements.
- Focus on specific needs
- Convenient
- Available on Teams, FaceTime, Zoom or Skype
Exam Revision
Tuition tends to become more popular as exam season approaches, but if sought early tuition can really benefit a student’s feeling of readiness and confidence. Successful revision strategies and techniques aimed at specific exam boards help students use their time more effectively and avoid the panic of last-minute cramming.
Regular use of exam questions and familiarising themselves with mark schemes that examiners use to assess them are really valuable ways to revise and improve technique.
Exam revision can help with the following:
- GCSEs and A-Levels
- SATs and Eleven-Plus 11+
- End of year assessments (often used to set students in the next year)
- Vocational courses, Foundational Skills
- Mocks and common assessments
Adult Education
Whether needing to gain qualifications for a new job, access higher level training programmes or simply developing latent skills hidden away with a sense of curiosity, many adults decide to revisit education for a number of reasons. I have plenty of experience in supporting this transition, and would be delighted to discuss any queries.
This include Foundational Skills qualifications some employers and courses demand for new entrants, as well as musical instrument skills (see below).
Musical Instrument Tuition
As a professional musician with over 20 years of performance and production experience, students can learn instrument techniques for acoustic guitar, electric guitar, bass guitar and drums.
Whether starting out as a beginner or refining existing ability, building these skills can have a huge impact on musical confidence and sense of expression.
Students can learn on their own instruments, although practice instruments can also be provided.
Musical instrument tuition available:
- Basic skills for beginners
- Advanced and Intermediate skills for more experienced players
- Guitar skills: finger positions and fretting, chord shapes, experimenting with guitar sounds
- Bass guitar skills: finger positions and fretting, plucking and picking technique, rhythmic playing, establishing grooves
- Drum skills: basic hand rhythms, using the bass drum, keeping steady timing, using hands and feet independently
